Product Overview
The velocity measurement of the Doppler Velocity and Flow Meter is based on the Doppler effect. The velocity sensor emits ultrasonic waves at an upward angle. As these waves propagate through the fluid, which contains impurities such as bubbles or particles (it can be assumed that the velocity of these impurities is consistent with the flow velocity), the ultrasonic waves reflected upon contact with these impurities undergo a Doppler frequency shift Δf. This Doppler frequency shift Δf is proportional to the flow velocity. By measuring Δf, the flow velocity V (m/s) of the fluid can be determined.
Water level measurement utilizes a built-in pressure sensor to measure the distance from the Doppler Velocity and Flow Meter to the water surface. The built-in temperature sensor measures the water temperature to further calibrate the water level reading.
By inputting channel parameters and using the measured water level H (m), the cross-sectional area S (m²) is calculated. The instantaneous flow rate (Q = V * S) is then obtained by multiplying the cross-sectional area by the flow velocity V (m/s). The cumulative flow is calculated by multiplying the flow rate by the accumulated time.
The product features an integrated ABS housing, providing effective waterproof sealing. It is particularly suitable for low-water-level applications and can perform measurements normally as long as the water level exceeds 5 centimeters.
