Container desiccant, also known as strong desiccant, is primarily used inside shipping containers to absorb moisture. During transportation, containers can form "internal rain" due to varying latitudes. It can absorb water equivalent to its own weight, effectively lowering the dew point during long-haul voyages of up to 50 days, thereby controlling condensation inside the container.

During marine transportation or storage, containers are exposed to high humidity climates and significant day-night temperature variations.

Water vapor inside the container condenses into droplets, forming "container rain." Using the moisture absorption capability of silica gel desiccant strings reduces the moisture content in the container's air, preventing the formation of container rain.
