Type B silica gel is a translucent granular material, available in both spherical and lump forms. Its primary component is SiO2·nH2O, which is insoluble in water and inorganic acids but soluble in strong acids and strong alkalis. It exhibits high mechanical strength and excellent wear resistance. Its internal structure features a pore volume of 0.50–0.80 ml/g, a pore diameter of 50–80 Å, and a specific surface area of 450–600 m²/g.

This product is mainly used as an air humidity regulator, catalyst and catalyst carrier, raw material for producing scented silica gel and bedding for feeding animals, as well as a base material for fine chemical products such as chromatographic silica gel.
