Product Type Metal Adhesion Promoter

Product Performance        2063 is a polyester-based phosphate ester. Since phosphate esters can bond with metal surfaces, Lubrizol 2063 improves the adhesion of both oil-based and water-based coatings to metal substrates, with particularly excellent results on aluminum. It also performs well on cold-rolled steel and galvanized steel, and enhances the flexibility and corrosion resistance of the paint film.  2063 can be widely used in coating systems.

Addition Method      Lubrizol 2063 is a viscous liquid. It is recommended to add it during the grinding stage or incorporate it with high-speed stirring or slow addition during the paint mixing stage. For water-based systems, it can be neutralized with ammonia to pH 7 first or added directly to a system that already contains ammonia. This product has acid functionality and acts as a catalyst, promoting cross-linking of amino paints during baking. Therefore, it may allow for a reduction in the amount of catalyst or a lower baking temperature.

Addition Amount       Typically added at 1-2% (W/W) of the total formulation. In some cases, up to 3% of the total may be required. The optimal addition amount is determined through testing to achieve the best adhesion.

Packaging and Storage     2063 is packaged in drums. Please store in the original sealed container at temperatures between -5°C and 30°C.
