N-Methylpyrrolidone (NMP) is an organic compound with the chemical formula C₅H₉NO. It appears as a colorless to light yellow transparent liquid with a slight ammonia odor, and is miscible with water, ethanol, and various other solvents. It has a boiling point of 202°C, a density of 1.028 g/cm³, and a flash point of 86.1°C. Its physical properties include a viscosity of 1.65 mPa·s and a refractive index of 1.470. It remains stable at room temperature and has low volatility.
