Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (abbreviated as DOP) is an important general-purpose plasticizer, with the following characteristics and application areas:

I. Product Characteristics

1. Physical Properties
   Appears as a colorless to light yellow transparent oily liquid with a mild odor; low volatility, excellent thermal stability and cold resistance, and good electrical insulation properties.

2. Chemical Properties
   Insoluble in water, soluble in most organic solvents; exhibits good compatibility with high molecular materials such as PVC, rubber, and ABS resin.

II. Main Applications

Plasticizing Application Areas

• Plastic Processing: Used as the primary plasticizer for PVC in the manufacturing of artificial leather, soft and hard pipes, agricultural films, packaging materials, and cable insulation layers.
• Special Materials:
  • Food-grade DOP is used in food packaging films;
  • Cold-resistant formulations (-70°C to 70°C) are used for frozen food packaging and low-temperature cables.

• Rubber and Resin: Enhances the elasticity of synthetic rubber and is used in processing acetate resin, ABS resin, etc.

Other Industrial Applications

• Used as a dye dispersant, paint solvent, and stationary phase in gas chromatography;
• Serves as a test medium for high-efficiency filters in HVAC systems.

III. Industrial Status

As one of the most widely used plasticizers globally, DOP is extensively applied in the manufacturing of plastics, cables, artificial leather, etc., due to its high plasticizing efficiency and stable comprehensive performance.
