Mixed fatty acid glycerides serve as a carrier, or excipient, for suppositories. As suppositories represent a growing trend in the pharmaceutical field, aligning with the fundamental development principles of "low toxicity, high efficacy" in medicine and meeting public healthcare needs, their development has been rapid. 1.1 Appearance: Sensory inspection.
1.2 This product is readily soluble in chloroform and benzene, soluble in petroleum ether, and almost insoluble in water or ethanol.
1.3 Melting point: The melting point of this product, as determined by the melting point test method, is: Type 34: 33–35°C; Type 36: 35–37°C; Type 38: 37–39°C; Type 40: 39–41°C.
1.4 Acid value: The acid value of this product, as determined by the acid value test method, is not more than 1.0.
1.5 Iodine value: The iodine value of this product, as determined by the iodine value test method, is not more than 2.0.
1.6 Saponification value: The saponification value of this product, as determined by the saponification value test method, is: Type 34: 225–235; Type 36: 220–230; Type 38 and 40: 215–230.
1.7 Hydroxyl value: Take about 1g of the product, accurately weighed, place it in a dry 250ml conical flask fitted with a condenser, accurately add 5ml of an acetic anhydride-pyridine solution (1→4), reflux in a water bath for 1 hour, then add 10ml of water through the condenser opening; shake well, continue heating for 10 minutes, cool, rinse the inner wall of the condenser and the neck of the flask with 25ml of neutral ethanol (neutral to phenolphthalein indicator solution), add 1ml of phenolphthalein indicator solution, and titrate with an ethanol solution of potassium hydroxide (0.5mol/L). Conduct a blank test simultaneously. Let the volume (ml) of the ethanol solution of potassium hydroxide (0.5mol/L) consumed by the sample be A, the volume (ml) consumed by the blank test be B, the weight (g) of the sample be G, and the acid value be D. Calculate the hydroxyl value according to the formula below, which should not exceed 6.0.
