In the 1990s, when electricity resources were tight, China's lithium bromide industry experienced large-scale development, with many lithium bromide central air conditioning advertisements appearing on CCTV.
Strictly speaking, lithium bromide equipment is very energy-inefficient for central air conditioning due to its low energy efficiency ratio. However, under the energy conditions at the time, lithium bromide equipment saw significant development.
Now, lithium bromide products are mainly used in industrial production, utilizing waste heat and low-grade heat sources for refrigeration. They have gradually withdrawn from the central air conditioning field.
In terms of price, Broad's products are relatively higher (focusing on commercial refrigeration), while others mainly utilize industrial waste heat. For industrial use, domestic products are more suitable for domestic applications (like domestic cars, cheaper to buy and use). Personally, I believe domestic products are better because lithium bromide units have matured after years of development in China, and it's hard to say one is significantly better than others; the technical content is similar, and domestic ones are relatively cheaper. Therefore, under the same temperature conditions, the higher the concentration of the lithium bromide aqueous solution, the stronger its ability to absorb moisture. This is why lithium bromide is commonly used as the absorbent and water as the refrigerant. Lithium bromide absorption chillers mainly consist of a generator, condenser, evaporator, absorber, heat exchanger, and circulation pump. During the operation of a lithium bromide absorption chiller, when the lithium bromide aqueous solution is heated by the heat medium water in the generator, the water in the solution continuously vaporizes. As the water vaporizes, the concentration of the lithium bromide solution in the generator continuously increases, and it enters the absorber. The water vapor enters the condenser, is cooled by the cooling water in the condenser, and condenses into high-pressure, low-temperature liquid water. When the water in the condenser passes through the throttle valve into the evaporator, it rapidly expands and vaporizes, absorbing a large amount of heat from the chilled water in the evaporator during vaporization, thereby achieving cooling and refrigeration. In this process, the low-temperature water vapor enters the absorber, is absorbed by the lithium bromide solution in the absorber, and the solution concentration gradually decreases. It is then sent back to the generator by the circulation pump, completing the entire cycle. This cycle continues uninterrupted to continuously produce cooling capacity. Since the dilute lithium bromide solution has already been cooled in the absorber and is at a low temperature, a heat exchanger is added to the system to save heat for heating the dilute solution and improve the overall thermal efficiency. This allows the high-temperature concentrated solution flowing out of the generator to exchange heat with the low-temperature dilute solution flowing out of the absorber, raising the temperature of the dilute solution entering the generator.
