Steel for petroleum drill collars, can be used for heavy-weight drill pipes. The raw material steel for integral heavy-weight drill pipes is AISI 4145H alloy structural steel. The production process strictly adheres to the SY/T5146-1997 standard. Heavy-weight drill pipes are medium-weight drilling tools similar to drill pipes, with a wall thickness greater than that of drill pipes but smaller than that of drill collars. They feature specially extended drill pipe joints connected to the thick-walled pipe body. They are typically added between the drill pipe and drill collar in the drill string assembly to prevent sudden changes in the cross-section of the drill string and reduce fatigue in the drill pipe.

Used in directional drilling, it allows for high-speed drilling with lower torque, reducing wear and breakage of the drill string.
