Chemical Plant Explosion Venting Device (Flame-Free Explosion Vent) Working Principle:

The flame-free venting device consists of two parts—an explosion vent panel and a flame extinguishing module. The explosion vent panel responds to rapid increases in deflagration pressure, opening immediately to reduce pressure. When the expanding fireball passes through the open vent panel, it is intercepted by the flame extinguishing module. The precision stainless steel mesh, supported by a frame, acts as a three-dimensional flame trap, extinguishing the flame and preventing propagation, thereby avoiding secondary or multiple explosions. The flame extinguishing module eliminates deflagration flames, reduces hot gas temperature, and captures both burning and unburned dust passing through the open vent panel.

Simultaneously, pressure waves or noise generated by production equipment are significantly reduced. As flames pass through the mesh flame arrestor element, heat exchange occurs, rapidly cooling high-temperature flames, venting pressure and smoke, while also reducing pressure waves or noise from production equipment.

Application Areas:

Widely used in industries such as grain, metallurgy, chemicals, power, light industry, tobacco, pharmaceuticals, machining, and solid waste treatment. Applicable equipment includes cyclone separators, baghouse dust collectors, dust collectors, cartridge filters, pneumatic conveying systems, rod or ball mills, bucket elevators, dryers and ovens, roller grinding, buildings, and more.

With increasingly stringent environmental inspections, safety has become a major concern. In the past, explosion vent panels were commonly installed on dust collectors to release overpressure caused by dust explosions. However, installing such devices indoors is not permitted by safety regulations, as it endangers nearby personnel and equipment. Pressure waves and flames from explosions may trigger secondary or multiple explosions, posing risks. Therefore, relying solely on explosion vent panels for dust collectors is unreliable. We recommend using flame-free venting + isolation technology (a cost-effective solution) or suppression + isolation technology to ensure production safety.

There are three main methods for dust explosion protection: venting, isolation, and suppression.

Venting: Releases explosion pressure in advance through a venting device to protect equipment from damage.

Isolation: Uses an isolation valve to block explosions and prevent flame propagation.
