A flame-free explosion venting device is a safety apparatus used to protect equipment and personnel. It automatically shuts down equipment or pipelines in the event of an explosion or fire to prevent the spread of flames or the escalation of an explosion. Its working principle involves detecting changes in gas pressure and temperature inside the pipeline or equipment to determine whether there is a risk of explosion or fire. If a hazard is confirmed, it immediately shuts down the equipment or pipeline while releasing pressure to achieve the goal of protecting both equipment and personnel.

The flame-free venting device consists of two parts—an explosion-proof panel and a fire extinguishing module. The explosion-proof panel responds to the rapid increase in deflagration pressure, immediately opening to reduce pressure. When the expanding fireball passes through the open explosion-proof panel, it is intercepted by the fire extinguishing module. The stainless steel precision mesh, supported by a frame, acts as a three-dimensional flame trap, extinguishing the flame and ensuring it does not propagate, thereby preventing secondary or multiple explosions. The fire extinguishing module eliminates deflagration flames, reduces the temperature of hot gases, and captures burning and unburned dust passing through the open explosion-proof panel.

At the same time, pressure waves or noise generated by production equipment are also minimized. When flames pass through the mesh flame arrestor element, heat exchange occurs between the element and the flame, rapidly cooling the high-temperature flame, releasing pressure and smoke. Additionally, pressure waves or noise generated by production equipment are reduced.

Application Areas:

Widely used in industries such as grain, metallurgy, chemicals, power, light industry, tobacco, pharmaceuticals, mechanical processing, and solid waste treatment. Applicable equipment includes cyclone separators, bag dust collectors, dust collectors, cartridge filters, pneumatic conveying systems, rod or ball mills, bucket elevators, dryers and ovens, roller grinding, buildings, etc.

With increasingly stringent environmental inspections, safety is gaining more attention. In the past, explosion venting panels were commonly installed on dust collectors to release overpressure caused by dust explosions. However, such installations on indoor equipment are not permitted by safety regulations because they endanger surrounding personnel and equipment. The pressure waves and flames from explosions may cause secondary or multiple explosions, creating risks. Therefore, relying solely on explosion-proof panels for dust collectors is unreliable. We recommend using flame-free explosion venting + isolation technology (a more economical solution) or suppression + isolation technology to ensure production safety.

There are three main methods for dust explosion protection: venting, isolation, and suppression.

Venting: Releases explosion pressure in advance through a pressure relief device to protect equipment from damage.

Isolation: Blocks explosions using an isolation valve to prevent flame propagation.

Suppression: Detection devices detect sparks and trigger fire extinguishing systems to instantly extinguish flames, preventing explosions.
