Technical Details
BKsorb is a high-purity iron hydroxide adsorbent specifically designed for arsenic removal in drinking water. It requires no chemical additives during use and efficiently removes both trivalent arsenic (As(III)) and pentavalent arsenic (As(V)) from water, ensuring a stable effluent arsenic concentration below 0.01 mg/L (complying with WHO and Chinese drinking water standards).
1. Technical Principle
The core component of BKsorb is β-FeOOH/Fe(OH)₃, which has a high specific surface area (~300 m²/g). It removes arsenic through the following mechanisms:
Adsorption: Numerous active sites capture arsenic ions.
Chemical Bonding: Arsenate/arsenite ions react with Fe(OH)₃ to form stable complexes (FeAsO₄), preventing secondary pollution.
Reaction Equation:
Fe(OH)₃ + H₃AsO₄ → FeAsO₄ + 3H₂O

3. Process Flow (Applicable to Groundwater/Drinking Water)
Pretreatment (optional): Coarse filtration (≥10 μm) to remove suspended solids.
Filter Media Loading: Fill the filter tank with BKsorb to a height of 100 cm.
Filtration and Adsorption: Control the flow rate to ensure a contact time ≥3 minutes.
Backwashing: Perform water backwashing for 5–10 minutes based on pressure drop or clogging.
Effluent Testing: Confirm arsenic concentration meets standards (< 0.01 mg/L).
Media Replacement: Replace directly upon saturation; no regeneration required.
