Ferric Hydroxide Arsenic Removal Filter Media BKsorb is an adsorption-type filter media with granular hydrated ferric oxide (FeOOH / Fe(OH)₃) as its core component. It is currently recognized as the preferred material for the deep removal of low concentrations of arsenic (As³⁺, As⁵⁺) in drinking water and groundwater. Compared to processes such as activated alumina, RO membranes, and arsenic removal resins, it is more suitable for arsenic removal in drinking water!


Features and Performance:

  1. Core Performance
    • High Selectivity: BKsorb ferric hydroxide filter media has an extremely high affinity for anionic pollutants such as arsenic, vanadium, uranium, and phosphates, and is almost unaffected by common ions in water like SO₄²⁻, Cl⁻, and HCO₃⁻.

    • Large Specific Surface Area: Typical BET value ≈ 300 m²/g, unit adsorption capacity 4–10 g/kg (based on As).
    • Precision and Lifespan: A single filtration can reduce effluent arsenic to <0.01 mg/L (10 ppb), with an empty bed contact time (EBCT) ≥3 min. The filter media has a lifespan of 1.5–5 years and requires no regeneration.
    • High Mechanical Strength: Can withstand filtration rates ≤20 m/h, and the system occupies a small footprint.

  2. Typical Certifications

    BKsorb Ferric Hydroxide Arsenic Removal Filter Media has passed NSF/ANSI 61 or DIN EN 15029 drinking water safety certifications.                     

  3. Operating Conditions
    • Applicable pH: 6.5–7.5 (most natural groundwater falls within this range, requiring no acid or alkali adjustment).
    • Recommended Bed Height: 0.8–1.6 m, with 40–50% reserved backwash expansion space.
    • Allowable Pressure Drop: ≤0.5 bar; backwash intensity 26 m/h (using water only) until the effluent is clear.
    • Inlet Water Requirements: Turbidity <5 NTU, no particles >10 μm, and free of oils, large amounts of SiO₂, and other easily adherent substances.

  4. Engineering Advantages
    • Pure Adsorption Process: No need to add coagulants or oxidants, and no iron-containing sludge is generated.

    • Can Operate Continuously Day and Night: No "false fatigue" phenomenon.

    • No Secondary Release of Pollutants After Saturation: Direct whole-bag replacement, with simple operation and maintenance.
