3. Extremely low toxicity: The LD50 for mice via intraperitoneal or intravenous injection is 8 g/kg, while the typical usage concentration is only between 1% and 10%. Even at a concentration of 80% in anti-inflammatory ointments, no irritation has been observed, indicating it is very safe for use.

4. Easy to use: Azone does not necessarily need to be dissolved to produce its penetration-enhancing effect. In many cases, simply adding Azone to a drug solution and shaking it into an emulsion can achieve good penetration-enhancing effects. It can be formulated into various dosage forms depending on the application site, such as solutions, emulsions, ointments, creams, suppositories, films, or patches, applied to the skin or mucous membranes, including the oral cavity and rectum.

5. Helps reduce drug dosage: Azone often shows the highest penetration-enhancing effect when the drug concentration is low.

For example: In the presence of Azone, the penetration ability of 0.02% clindamycin is almost equal to that of 0.1% clindamycin without Azone. Therefore, when drugs are expensive or have significant side effects, the superiority of Azone as a penetration enhancer becomes even more apparent, and it can significantly reduce the dosage of the active drug.
