█ Application Scope
1. Additive for steel and non-ferrous alloys. FeCr alloys typically contain 0.5%–4% nano yttrium oxide, which enhances the oxidation resistance and ductility of these stainless steels. Adding an appropriate amount of yttrium-rich mixed rare earth to MB26 alloy significantly improves its overall performance, allowing it to replace some medium-strength aluminum alloys in aircraft load-bearing components. Adding a small amount of yttrium rare earth to Al-Zr alloy increases its electrical conductivity; this alloy is already used by most domestic wire manufacturers. Adding nano yttrium oxide to copper alloys improves electrical conductivity and mechanical strength.
2. Silicon nitride ceramic material containing 6% nano yttrium oxide and 2% aluminum can be used to develop engine components.
3. A 400-watt neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet laser beam is used for machining large components, such as drilling, cutting, and welding.
4. Electron microscope screens made of Y-Al garnet single crystal sheets offer high fluorescence brightness, low absorption of scattered light, and excellent resistance to high temperatures and mechanical wear.
5. High-yttrium structural alloys containing up to 90% nano yttrium oxide can be used in aviation and other applications requiring low density and high melting points.
6. High-yttrium high-temperature proton-conducting materials containing up to 90% nano yttrium oxide are significant for the production of fuel cells, electrolytic cells, and gas sensors requiring high hydrogen solubility.
7. Nano yttrium oxide is also used in high-temperature spray coatings, as a diluent for nuclear reactor fuel, as an additive for permanent magnets, and as a getter in the electronics industry.
