Activated carbon adsorbs industrial exhaust gases.Under low-concentration VOC conditions, activated carbon adsorption towers can ideally remove volatile organic compounds from exhaust gases while offering excellent economic benefits. Therefore, they are widely used in air pollution control, particularly for treating exhaust gases containing medium to low concentrations of VOCs, such as in semiconductor plants, LCD factories, and related electronic equipment manufacturing facilities. Depending on the attractive forces between the adsorbent and the adsorbed substances, the mechanisms of adsorption towers include physical adsorption due to van der Waals forces between organic substances and chemical adsorption involving the formation of chemical bonds. Physical adsorption is a reversible phenomenon and is often utilized to alter pressure or temperature to disrupt this equilibrium, thereby regenerating the adsorbent and recovering the adsorbed substances through methods such as steam regeneration, chemical oxidation regeneration, and microwave regeneration. Chemical adsorption is a thermal reaction and is typically irreversible.
