【Dechlorination Principle of Tengxiang Calcium Sulfite】
The main components in tap water are ClO and chlorine gas. The reaction involves ClO + calcium sulfite or chlorine gas + water + calcium sulfite, leading to a redox reaction where ClO loses oxygen ions, and tetravalent sulfur ions are oxidized to hexavalent S ions, forming calcium sulfate and Cl ions. Calcium sulfate is slightly soluble in water in a weakly acidic environment, posing no harm to humans.
