Functional Model
The PCI2PMC32 is a standard 33 MHz 32-bit PCI carrier board designed to accommodate a standard PMC card, allowing both front-panel I/O and rear P14 I/O connections to be routed. This PCI-to-PMC adapter enables the use of PMC devices in standard PCI systems to build modular, flexible, and cost-effective I/O solutions.
The PCI2PMC32 serves as a mechanical adapter to connect standard PMC modules in standard PCI systems.
It operates with both 3.3V and 5.0V PCI I/O signal voltages, ensuring compatibility with almost all PC motherboards.
The PCI2PMC32-20 provides a local 3.3V power supply with a typical current limit of 2A for PC motherboards that do not support 3.3V as the PCI power voltage.
The PCI2PMC32 supports standard front-panel I/O and rear P14 I/O, which are routed to a VME P2-type connector (603-2-IEC-C064-M). The P14 I/O mapping complies with the "VITA-35 PMC P4 to VME P2 Rows A, C" specification.
Operating temperature range is -40°C to +85°C.

PMC-to-PCI Interface
The PCI2PMC32 is a mechanical adapter for connecting standard PMC modules in PCI PC systems. It is a passive adapter board without a PCI-to-PCI bridge, with the PCI bus directly connected to the PMC card.
PMC BUSMODE[4:1] Signals
The BUSMODE[4:1]# signals are unique to IEEE 1386 (PMC) and not found in the PCI specification. They allow the host to identify the CMC card as a PMC card or another type. The PCI2PMC32 supports only PMC cards. A "PMC-only" configuration is provided by pulling up BUSMODE2# and pulling down BUSMODE3# and BUSMODE4#. The PMC card decodes BUSMODE[4:2]# and places a logic "0" on BUSMODE1#, used by the PCI2PMC32 as PRESENT[2:1]# signals.
PCI Signal Levels
To insert a 3.3V-only PMC into the PCI2PMC32 carrier board, first ensure the PCI bus uses 3.3V signal voltage, then remove the key pin from the 5V position and assemble it in the 3.3V position.
Ordering Guide
PCI2PMC | The PCI2PMC is a standard 33 MHz 32-bit PCI carrier board designed for a single PMC card with front-panel I/O and rear P14 I/O. This PCI-to-PMC adapter enables the use of PMC devices in standard PCI systems to build modular, flexible, and cost-effective I/O solutions. |
Installation
Install the PMC onto the PCI2PMC32 before mounting it into the chassis. If the PMC has a front panel, install it at an angle so the front panel fits through the PC card front-panel cutout, then rotate it down to align with the PMC connector on the PCI2PMC32. If the PMC has no front panel, simply insert it.
After installing the PMC, secure it to the PCI2PMC32. This is typically necessary only in environments with vibration or shock. Use the mounting screws provided with the PMC to fasten it to the PCI2PMC32. There are four mounting positions: two in the PMC mounting bracket and two near the PMC bus connector for nut posts.
