Ceramic release agents are primarily used to prevent ceramic products from adhering to molds during the forming process, ensuring smooth demolding, while also guaranteeing the surface quality of the products and production efficiency. Release agents play a crucial role in ceramic production.

Classification and Characteristics

Ceramic release agents are mainly divided into two categories: organic release agents and inorganic release agents:

Organic Release Agents:

Release Oils: Suitable for the production of ordinary ceramics and special ceramics, insoluble in water, they form a protective film on the sintered ceramic surface, preventing premature hardening and cracking of the ceramic body. However, release oils are difficult to clean and may remain on the ceramic body, affecting its smoothness and the quality of subsequent sintering.

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) Release Agents: Colorless, transparent, non-flammable, capable of withstanding high temperatures and high pressure, they effectively prevent the ceramic body from sticking to the mold, making the surface of ceramic products smoother and easier to clean. However, they are more expensive and suitable for the production of high-end ceramics.

Inorganic Release Agents:

Phosphate Release Agents: Colorless, odorless, non-toxic, and easy to dilute, suitable for the production of high-end ceramics and special ceramics. They can be thoroughly cleaned without leaving residues on the ceramic body, ensuring no impact on the smoothness and subsequent sintering quality.

Silicate Release Agents: Highly compatible with ceramic raw materials, suitable for various types of ceramic production. They effectively prevent mold sticking during the sintering process, resulting in a smoother ceramic surface.

Usage Methods and Effects

The typical method of using release agents involves applying an appropriate amount evenly onto the mold surface to form a隔离膜 (isolation film). This allows the ceramic product to be easily demolded after forming, ensuring surface quality and production efficiency. Different types of release agents vary in effectiveness: organic release agents like release oils and PTFE are suitable for high-end ceramic production, while inorganic release agents like phosphates and silicates are applicable to various types of ceramic production.
