Silicone Internal Release Agent

Silicone internal release agent is also a water-soluble silicone internal release agent, meaning the internal components of the silicone internal release agent can completely dissolve in water. Emulsions of compounds such as methyl silicone oil are commonly used in industry. The emulsion is water-soluble and can achieve high heat resistance, easy cleaning, good corrosion resistance and fire resistance, minimal environmental pollution, and relatively safe transportation and storage.

Due to its high water content, water-based silicone internal release agents differ in many aspects from traditional oil-based or solvent-based silicone internal release agents. The release effect of silicone internal release agents depends on a film only a few micrometers thick deposited on the cavity surface after spraying. Therefore, there are higher requirements for the selection of components and the use of processes. However, its advantages are also evident, facilitating automated operation, good cooling effect, no scaling, improved surface quality of castings, reduced internal porosity, safe use, clean production, reduced environmental pollution, etc.

Silicone internal release agents have strong adhesion, allowing them to preferentially adhere to the mold without transferring to the molded part. They can also modify the resin surface, improving resin flowability and surface quality, and are widely used in mold release for silicone rubber, plastics, and other products.

Advantages of silicone internal release agents:

2. Good isolation performance, clean, flat, and uncontaminated concrete surface.

3. Easy demolding. After demolding, the surface remains smooth and flat, with neat edges and corners, and no damage.

The basic formulation of silicone internal release agents typically includes the following main components:

Base materials: such as paraffin, stearic acid, vegetable oil, emulsified wax liquid, methyl silicone oil emulsion, modified silicone oil emulsion, etc.

Emulsifier: Used to evenly disperse the base materials in water to form a stable emulsion.

Water: Acts as a carrier, usually constituting the majority of the formulation.

Additives: Such as preservatives, anti-mold agents, etc., used to improve the stability and service life of the silicone internal release agent.

Specific formulation example

Paraffin, stearic acid, vegetable oil, co-emulsifier, potassium hydroxide, etc.

Heat paraffin, stearic acid, co-emulsifier, and auxiliary oily raw materials to 60–80°C to melt, then heat water, alkaline agent, and auxiliary aqueous raw materials to 80–90°C. Slowly add the aqueous phase to the oil phase under vigorous stirring, stir to room temperature, and obtain a white oil-in-water emulsion.

Polyurethane silicone internal release agent

The formulation includes emulsified wax liquid 10%–15%, methyl silicone oil emulsion 15%–20%, modified silicone oil emulsion 5%–8%, deionized water 50%–55%, emulsifier 4.5%–6%, additives 0.5%–1%, preservative 0.3%–0.5%.

Function and characteristics of components

Base materials: Such as paraffin, silicone oil, etc., primarily provide lubrication and release effects.

Emulsifier: Helps evenly disperse the base materials in water to form a stable emulsion.

Water: Acts as a diluent, reducing costs and facilitating easy cleaning.

Additives: Improve the stability and service life of the silicone internal release agent.

Characteristics: Silicone internal release agents have strong adhesion, no residue, waterproof, rust-proof, etc., and are suitable for mold release of molds and silicone rubber, plastic, and other products.

The mixing ratio of silicone internal release agent to water typically ranges from 1:3 to 1:10, and the specific ratio can be adjusted according to actual needs. For example, based on the complexity of the casting and on-site conditions, the dilution ratio can be flexibly adjusted. The general principle is that the more complex the casting, the lower the dilution ratio.

The main components of silicone internal release agents include paraffin, stearic acid, vegetable oil, co-emulsifier, potassium hydroxide, etc., produced through heating, melting, and emulsification processes. Its characteristics include safe operation, minimal environmental pollution, low harm to human health, excellent release effect, and biodegradability.

When using silicone internal release agents, it is recommended to dilute with tap water and stir, determining the appropriate dilution ratio based on the complexity of the casting and on-site conditions. For complex castings, it is advisable to spray a uniform layer of diluted solution on the mold after each demolding to ensure easy release for the next pouring.
