Rubber release agent is a functional substance primarily used in the rubber and plastic manufacturing industries to prevent adhesion between rubber products and mold surfaces, ensuring smooth demolding without tearing. Its main functions include improving production efficiency, extending mold service life, achieving smooth product surfaces, ensuring dimensional accuracy, and reducing waste products.  

Principle of Rubber Release Agent

Rubber release agents form an effective isolation layer between the mold and the product, reducing the adhesion between the mold and the rubber product. This facilitates easy demolding and prevents damage caused by forced removal. The isolation performance depends on its surface properties, such as low critical surface tension, which makes it difficult for liquids to wet the surface, thereby achieving the demolding effect.

Classification of Rubber Release Agents

Rubber release agents are mainly divided into two categories: fluorine-based release agents and silicone-based release agents. Fluorine-based release agents: such as fluororesin powder (low molecular PTFE) and fluororesin coatings (PTFE, FEP, PFA). These release agents significantly reduce surface energy, making them suitable for various rubber products with high surface smoothness, particularly for demolding precision electronic components. Their price is relatively high, generally ranging from 100-300 RMB/kg. Silicone-based release agents: such as silicone oil, silicone rubber, and emulsified silicone oil. These release agents offer good heat resistance, moderate surface tension, and form a uniform isolation film easily. They are suitable for processing resins such as polyurethane, rubber, polyethylene, and polyvinyl chloride. The drawback is that the product surface may retain an oily layer after demolding, requiring surface cleaning.

Application Scenarios of Rubber Release Agents

Rubber release agents are widely used in the rubber molding industry, including transportation, sports equipment, household appliances, machinery, office equipment, pneumatic tires, footwear, and other fields. By using rubber release agents, production efficiency can be improved, mold service life can be extended, and products can achieve smooth surfaces, dimensional accuracy, and reduced waste.

Development Trends of Rubber Release Agents

Currently, domestic enterprises mainly produce mid-to-low-end mass-market release agent products, while the development of high-end products, such as semi-permanent, environmentally friendly, and secondary-processing-suitable release agents, is progressing slowly. Communication channels between R&D and production units and end-users are insufficient, making it difficult to promote and adopt new, highly efficient release agents. In the future, with technological advancements and changing market demands, release agent products will move toward higher-end and more efficient directions.
