Common Types of Release Agents and Their Pros and Cons

Release Wax:

Pros: Long-standing presence in the market, high popularity, and well-established application procedures.

Cons: Very slow and labor-intensive application, typically only allows for one or two releases, severe transfer, complex post-processing grinding and repairs, significant mold residue, serious damage to molds, and unsuitability for hot forming processes.

Wax-Based Release Water:

Pros: Easier to apply compared to release wax.

Cons: Usually allows for very few releases, severe transfer, complex post-processing grinding and repairs, significant mold residue, serious damage to molds, and unsuitability for hot forming processes.

Semi-Permanent Silicone Release Water:

Pros: Relatively simple application, capable of multiple releases.

Cons: Difficult to control transfer, must be wiped off after application to prevent transfer, requires post-processing grinding, unstable quality, inability to control the number of releases, high toxicity, and serious harm to human health.

Release Films:

Pros: Easy to lay on flat products, high surface gloss of products, no transfer, high temperature resistance.

Cons: Difficult to lay on irregularly shaped parts, prone to wrinkling, relatively thick, unable to reflect mold details, incapable of multiple releases, generates significant waste, and troublesome to handle.

Epoxy-Based Semi-Permanent Release Agents:

Pros: Environmentally friendly and odorless, low usage, easy application, high release efficiency, precise product dimensions, glossy and transfer-free, allows for multiple releases, and protects molds.

Cons: No obvious disadvantages.
