Mold Release Agent

A mold release agent is a functional substance that acts between the mold and the finished product. It possesses chemical resistance, meaning it does not dissolve when in contact with the chemical components of various resins (especially styrene and amines). Mold release agents also exhibit heat and stress resistance, making them less prone to decomposition or wear. They adhere to the mold without transferring to the processed part, thereby not interfering with painting or other secondary processing operations. Due to the rapid development of processes such as injection molding, extrusion, calendering, compression molding, and lamination, the usage of mold release agents has significantly increased.

Performance Requirements

The role of a mold release agent is to smoothly separate the cured and formed product from the mold, resulting in a smooth and flat product while ensuring the mold can be used multiple times. Specific performance requirements are as follows:

1. Release performance (lubricity). Forms a uniform film and ensures dimensional accuracy for complex-shaped molded objects.

2. Consistent release performance.

3. The appearance of the molded object is smooth and aesthetically pleasing, without attracting dust due to the application of a sticky mold release agent.

4. Excellent secondary processability. When the mold release agent transfers to the molded object, it has no adverse effects on processes such as electroplating, hot pressing, printing, coating, or bonding.

5. Ease of application.

7. Stain resistance.

8. Good molding performance and high production efficiency.

9. High stability. Maintains physical and chemical stability when used with additives and materials.

10. Non-flammability, low odor, and low toxicity.

Usage Method for Mold Release Agent:

Spray or brush the product directly onto the surface of the item to be released. The recommended dilution ratio for the mold release agent is 3-10 times, and the specific amount used should be adjusted according to the product system.

Performance Characteristics of Mold Release Agent:

The mold release agent is resistant to acids, alkalis, and hard water, highly water-soluble, and has stable emulsion properties. It can be diluted with water in any proportion without stratification, demulsification, or caking, has a long shelf life, high solid content, and good dispersibility. It is used for mold release in industries such as aluminum molds, steel molds, wooden molds, silicone molds, glass, ceramic molds, plastic molds, rubber, metal, and plastics. The mold release agent imparts a smooth, wear-resistant, and anti-adhesive finish to the surface of the released product.
