The instrument operates on the dynamic coulometric principle. When the sample undergoes redox combustion in the conversion tube, the reaction gas is carried by the carrier gas into the titration cell for titration. The electrical charge consumed during the electrolytic titration process is measured, and based on Faraday's law, the sulfur and chlorine content of the sample is determined.
