Activated clay, decolorizing clay, appears as grayish-white granular powder with a large specific surface area and pore volume. It possesses special adsorption capacity and ion exchange properties, strong decolorizing ability and activity, and maintains good stability after decolorization. It is mainly used in the petroleum industry to adsorb unsaturated hydrocarbons, sulfides, colloids, asphaltenes, and other unstable and colored substances in petroleum-based minerals such as paraffin and lubricating oil. Activated clay is widely used for the decolorization and refining of mineral oils, animal and vegetable oils, wax production, and organic liquids. It can also serve as a moisture desiccant, an oral antidote for alkaline poisoning, an adsorbent for vitamins A and B, and a contact agent for lubricant recombination. Additionally, it is used as a medium-temperature polymerization catalyst, high-temperature polymerization agent, and raw material for producing granular clay.
