Ethyl acetate

Ethyl acetate, an organic compound also known as ethyl ethanoate, has the chemical formula CH₃COOCH₂CH₃. It is a colorless, flammable, and volatile liquid with a fruity odor. Its auto-ignition temperature is 426.6°C, and its refractive index is 1.3710. It is slightly soluble in water but soluble in alcohols, ethers, aromatic hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbons, and other organic solvents. This compound is an important organic solvent widely used as a diluent for varnishes and inks, and as a solvent for artificial leather and nitrocellulose. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used in the production of penicillin G potassium salt, chloramphenicol, among others. Additionally, it has extensive applications in industries such as dyes, fragrances, synthetic rubber, and adhesives^[1].
