n-Propanol

1. n-Propanol is commonly used in organic synthesis. It can be employed in the synthesis of nitro lacquers, cosmetics, dental detergents, insecticides, fungicides, inks, plastics, antifreeze, and intermediates, such as the synthesis of propyl acetate, which can be used as a coating solvent, printing ink, etc. Various esters synthesized from n-propanol can also be used in food additives, plasticizers, fragrances (the components used in formulating fragrances must not exceed the maximum allowable usage and residual amounts specified in GB 2760), and many other applications;^[10]

2. In the pharmaceutical industry, n-propanol is used to produce probenecid, sodium valproate, erythromycin, valpromide, adhesive hemostatic agent BCA, thiamine propyl disulfide, dipropyl 2,5-pyridinedicarboxylate, n-propylamine, etc.;

3. Derivatives of n-propanol, particularly di-n-propylamine, have numerous applications in pesticide production, such as in the production of pesticides like amitrole, isopropalin, vernolate, nitralin, trifluralin, etc.;

4. n-Propanol can be used as an analytical reagent, such as a solvent, chromatographic analysis reagent, and column chromatography reagent. It can be directly used as a solvent and, in many cases, can replace lower-boiling-point ethanol, such as in solvents for vegetable oils, natural rubber and resins, certain synthetic resins, ethyl cellulose, and polyvinyl butyral.^[6][9]

5. n-Propanol can also be mixed with alkanes and alkenes as a blended fuel to increase combustion temperature.
