Isopropyl alcohol

1. As a chemical raw material, it can be used to produce acetone, methyl isobutyl ketone, diisobutyl ketone, isopropylamine, isopropyl ether, isopropyl chloride, as well as isopropyl esters of fatty acids and chlorinated fatty acids. In the fine chemical industry, it can be employed to produce isopropyl nitrate, isopropyl xanthate, triisopropyl phosphite, aluminum isopropoxide, as well as pharmaceuticals and pesticides. It can also be used to produce diisopropyl ketone, isopropyl acetate, thymol, and gasoline additives.

2. As a solvent, it is a relatively inexpensive industrial solvent with a wide range of applications. It can freely mix with water and has a stronger dissolving power for lipophilic substances than ethanol. It can serve as a solvent for nitrocellulose, rubber, coatings, shellac, alkaloids, etc., and can be used in the production of coatings, inks, extractants, aerosol agents, etc. It is also used as an antifreeze, cleaning agent, gasoline blending additive, dispersant in pigment production, fixing agent in the dyeing industry, and anti-fogging agent for glass and transparent plastics. It acts as a diluent for adhesives and is also used in antifreeze and dehydrating agents.

3. As a standard substance in chromatographic analysis, it is used to determine barium, calcium, copper, magnesium, nickel, potassium, sodium, strontium, nitrite, cobalt, etc.

4. In the electronics industry, it can be used as a cleaning and degreasing agent.

5. In the fats and oils industry, it serves as an extractant for cottonseed oil and can also be used for degreasing animal-derived tissue membranes.
