GB 2760-1996 stipulates it as an permitted edible flavoring agent. It can be used in small quantities in perfumes such as magnolia, ylang-ylang, osmanthus, rabbit ear grass flower, and floral waters, as well as in fruity fragrances to enhance fresh fruit notes, particularly in perfume blends where it imparts a rounded and mature effect. It is suitable for edible flavors including cherry, peach, apricot, grape, strawberry, raspberry, banana, pear, pineapple, lemon, melon, and others. It is also used in alcoholic beverage flavors such as brandy, whiskey, rum, yellow wine, and white liquor.

Ethyl acetate is one of the most widely used fatty acid esters, serving as a fast-drying solvent with excellent dissolving power, making it an ideal industrial solvent. It can also be employed as an eluent in column chromatography. It functions as a solvent for adhesives and a diluent for spray paints.
