Amazon's CPC Testing Standards for Children's Bicycles: CPSIA + 16 CFR 1512
Children's Bicycles Covered by This Policy
A children's bicycle is a two-wheeled vehicle propelled solely by human power with a seat height not exceeding 25 inches, or a bicycle designed or intended for use by children aged 12 or younger.
This policy does not apply to bicycles made solely to custom order without using stock or production parts, nor does it apply to track bicycles designed and used for racing with tubular tires (fixed crank-to-wheel ratio and no freewheeling feature).
(1) Amazon’s Policy on Children’s Bicycles
Amazon requires that you specify the seat height* and applicable age or age range on the product detail pages for all children's bicycles listed. Amazon also mandates that all children's bicycles must be tested and comply with the following specific regulations or standards:
16 CFR Part 1512 (Bicycle Requirements); and
Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (Lead); and
Section 14(a)(5) of the Consumer Product Safety Act (Tracking Label); and
16 CFR Part 1501 (Small Parts Testing**) (if applicable); and
16 CFR Part 1500.19 and 16 CFR Part 1500.20 (Small Parts Labeling***) (if applicable)
Note: *Seat height refers to the distance from the top of the seat to the ground when the seat is raised to its highest position.
**Applies only to bicycles designed, intended, or marketed for children under 3 years of age.
***Applies only to bicycles containing small parts and designed, intended, or marketed for children from 3 to under 6 years of age.
