It is primarily used as a raw material in the production of lithopone and other zinc salts, as well as an important material for synthetic fibers. In agriculture, it serves as a trace element fertilizer, and in animal husbandry, it is used as a feed additive. It also functions as a mordant, wood and leather preservative, bone glue clarifier, medical emetic, and fungicide. Industrially, it is commonly employed as a mordant, wood preservative, animal cavity clarifier, leather preservative, and bleaching agent. In medicine, it is used as an emetic and astringent. It is stored in warehouses in bags and transported via road freight.
