Introduction to Winch Hoists
Due to the deceleration achieved through the gearbox and reduction gears, winch hoists undergo multiple deceleration processes with a high reduction ratio. In some cases, the force is further amplified using pulley blocks, allowing for significant gate-opening force, making them suitable for gates with larger openings and higher water heads. The steel wire rope is wound around the drum, typically in a single layer, though multi-layer winding is also possible. As a result, the travel distance of winch hoists is virtually unlimited, making them ideal for opening gates with extensive travel or deep-hole gates. The direction of force on the steel wire rope can be adjusted appropriately or altered using additional embedded deflection pulleys. This provides considerable flexibility in coordinating the gate with the hoist. When electrically powered, the hoisting speed is relatively fast, making winch hoists suitable for emergency gates and frequently operated gates.
