The structural torque wrench is also known as a torque meter or torque screwdriver. It is designed based on the principles of beam bending, torsion bar bending, and helical spring compression, capable of measuring the magnitude of the torque applied to a nut.

Torque wrenches come in two types: flat plate and dial. A torque wrench features a long elastic rod, with a handle at one end and a square or hexagonal head at the other. A replaceable sleeve is fitted over the square or hexagonal head, secured by a steel ball. A long pointer is also mounted at the top. The dial plate is fixed to the handle base, with each graduation representing 1N (or kg/m). Before use, adjust the indicator on the wrench to the desired torque. Then, when the predetermined torque is reached, the pointer on the indicator rotates toward the pin shaft, eventually colliding with it, alerting the operator through an acoustic signal or sensor signal.
