Maleic anhydride, also known as cis-butenedioic anhydride or commonly referred to as maleic anhydride or dehydrated malic anhydride, is an organic compound. Its molecular formula is C4H2O3, with a molecular weight of 98.06. It appears as colorless crystals with a strong irritating odor, a freezing point of 52.8°C, a boiling point of 202°C, and is easily sublimated. It is primarily produced by the oxidation of benzene or n-butane/butene in C4 fractions and serves as a raw material for the production of unsaturated polyester resins and organic synthesis.

Storage Methods:
1. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat sources. Ensure containers are tightly sealed. Separate from oxidizers, reducing agents, acids, and food chemicals. Avoid mixed storage. Equip with appropriate types and quantities of fire-fighting equipment. The storage area should have suitable materials for containing leaks.

Main Uses:
1. Primarily used as a raw material for producing unsaturated polyester resins, alkyd resins, pesticides, low-toxicity pesticide 4049, and long-acting sulfonamides. Also used in coatings, maleic rosin, polymaleic anhydride, and maleic anhydride-styrene copolymers. It serves as an organic chemical raw material for producing ink additives, paper additives, plasticizers, and compounds such as succinic acid, succinic anhydride, tetrahydrofuran, etc. Used as a curing agent for epoxy resins and in organic synthesis for manufacturing succinic acid, succinic anhydride, etc. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used to produce long-acting sulfonamides. In the food industry, it is used to make acidulants like malic acid and tartaric acid.
This product is used as a curing agent for epoxy resins. It is one of the important basic organic raw materials, mainly used in the production of unsaturated polyester resins, alkyd resins, nylon-4, etc. It is also a key raw material for paper treatment agents, adhesives, inks, paints, herbicides, insecticides, and plant growth regulators.
