Dipropylene glycol methyl ether is an organic compound with the molecular formula C7H16O3. It is a colorless viscous liquid with a pleasant odor, miscible with water and various organic solvents. It is produced by the hydration of 1,2-epoxypropane to form dipropylene glycol, followed by reaction with methanol. It is primarily used as a solvent for coatings and dyes, and also as a component of brake fluid.
