Ethylene glycol monobutyl ether (BCS)

Ethylene glycol butyl ether (Ethylene Glycol Monobutyl Ether, BCS) is a colorless flammable liquid with a moderate ether-like odor. Applications: Primarily used as a solvent for coatings, printing inks, stamp pad inks, oils, resins, etc.; metal cleaners, paint strippers, lubricant removers, automotive engine cleaners, dry-cleaning solvents, epoxy resin solvents, and pharmaceutical extractants; used as a stabilizer for latex paints, an evaporation inhibitor for aircraft coatings, and for surface treatment of high-temperature baked enamels. Inhalation of vapor may cause respiratory tract irritation and damage to the liver and kidneys. Vapor is irritating to the eyes; skin contact may cause dermatitis. This product is flammable, toxic, and irritating.

Main Applications:
1. Used as a solvent for paints and inks, a component in metal cleaners, and a raw material for dye dispersants.
2. Mainly used as a solvent for nitrocellulose, synthetic resins, spray paints, quick-drying paints, varnishes, enamels, fats, and paint strippers. Also used as a fiber wetting agent, pesticide dispersant, resin plasticizer, and intermediate in organic synthesis. A reagent for the determination of iron and molybdenum. An auxiliary solvent to improve emulsification and dissolve mineral oils in soap solutions.
3. Used as a reagent and solvent for the determination of iron and molybdenum, and for the separation of calcium and strontium in nitrates.
4. Used as an inactive diluent in adhesives, metal cleaners, paint strippers, fiber wetting agents, pesticide dispersants, pharmaceutical extractants, resin plasticizers, and intermediates in organic synthesis. Also used as a high-boiling-point solvent in paints, particularly nitro spray paints, to prevent fogging and wrinkling, and to enhance the gloss and flow of the paint film.
