Dibutyl phthalate (DBP)

     Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) is a commonly used plasticizer for polyvinyl chloride, which imparts good flexibility to products. However, it has high volatility and water extractability, resulting in poor durability. Dibutyl phthalate is an excellent plasticizer for cellulose, with strong gelling ability. It is used in nitrocellulose coatings and provides good softening effects. Its stability, flexibility, adhesion, and water resistance are superior to other plasticizers. Dibutyl phthalate can also be used as a plasticizer for polyvinyl acetate, alkyd resins, nitrocellulose, ethyl cellulose, and chloroprene rubber.

     Main Uses
1. This product is a plasticizer with strong solubility for various resins. It is mainly used in polyvinyl chloride processing to impart good flexibility to products. Due to its relatively low cost and good processability, it is widely used domestically, almost on par with DOP. However, due to its high volatility and water extractability, the durability of products is poor, and its use should be gradually restricted.
2. This product is an excellent plasticizer for cellulose with strong gelling ability. Used in cellulose coatings, it provides excellent softening effects. It offers superior stability, flexibility, adhesion, and water resistance.
3. This product can also be used as a plasticizer for polyvinyl acetate, alkyd resins, ethyl cellulose, and chloroprene rubber.
4. It can also be used in the manufacture of paints, adhesives, artificial leather, printing inks, safety glass, celluloid, dyes, insecticides, fragrance solvents, fabric lubricants, etc.
