The composition of most bearing Babbitt alloys is designed to achieve such a microstructure with a soft-phase matrix and uniformly distributed hard-phase particles. Lead-based bearing alloys have lower strength and hardness compared to tin-based bearing alloys and also exhibit poorer corrosion resistance. When customers use Babbitt alloys, they usually choose tin-based bearing alloys. Common grades include ZCHSnSb11-6 (suitable for high-speed steam engines, high-horsepower turbines, compressors, turbine pumps, high-speed internal combustion engines, ball mills, and mineral processing equipment bearings), ZCHSnSb8-4 (suitable for casting high-speed bearings in internal combustion engines), ZCHSnSb4-4 (suitable for turbines, internal combustion engines, and high-speed bearing bushings), ZCHSnSb8-8 (suitable for large machinery bearings and bushings), etc. Lead-based bearing alloys have lower hardness, strength, and toughness compared to tin-based bearing alloys. Common grades include ZCHPbSb16-16-2, ZCHPbSb1-16-1, ZCHPbSb10-6, etc. (suitable for medium-load, light-load, low-speed machinery bushings). Bearing Babbitt is a well-known bearing material, also called white metal due to its white appearance, and it possesses anti-friction characteristics. Bearing Babbitt is suitable for use with relatively low-hardness rotating shafts and is widely used in large marine diesel engines, turbines, alternators, and other mining machinery and large rotating equipment.
