Fuel gas is a mixture of various gases, with combustible components primarily including hydrogen, carbon monoxide, methane, hydrogen sulfide, and various hydrocarbons, while non-combustible gases mainly consist of carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and water vapor. According to the classification by the International Gas Union (IGU), fuel gases can be categorized as follows:
Wobbe Index Classification

Class II gas: Wobbe Index between 35.8 and 53.7. L: Wobbe Index between 51.7 and 53.8. H group: Wobbe Index between 51.6 and 53.7.
Class III gas: Wobbe Index between 71.5 and 87.2.
Fuel gas is classified into three categories based on calorific value:
High calorific value gas: Calorific value greater than 15.7×10^6 J/Nm³.
Medium calorific value gas: Calorific value between (6.28–15.07)×10^6 J/Nm³.
Low calorific value gas: Calorific value below 6.28×10^6 J/Nm³.
