 In the five major application fields of papermaking, plastics, rubber, cables, paints, and coatings, a significant portion still utilizes light calcium carbonate powder. Light calcium powder is widely used as a filler and reinforcing agent in rubber, plastics, PVC pipes, profiles, coatings, paper, paint, sealants, daily necessities, pharmaceuticals, and feed. It not only increases volume and reduces costs but, more importantly, improves the processing properties of the matrix. It also provides reinforcement, tensile strength, wear resistance, tear resistance, and enhances gloss. Therefore, calcium carbonate is not just an ordinary filler but is regarded as a functional filler. Light calcium carbonate, with its high whiteness and good flowability, is the largest filler for PVC pipes and profiles. It significantly enhances product volume, stabilizes dimensions, improves heat resistance, smoothness, and gloss, thereby reducing costs and achieving the goal of improving product quality. Due to the complex production process of light calcium powder, its high cost, and the environmental pollution caused by its production, the current commercial trend is to replace light calcium powder with heavy calcium powder as much as possible.
