Calcite is a calcium carbonate mineral and the most common form of natural calcium carbonate. It exhibits a variety of crystal shapes, and its aggregates can appear as clusters of crystals, granular, massive, fibrous, stalactitic, earthy, and more.

Heavy calcium fine powder is used as a filler in products such as artificial stone, artificial floor tiles, natural rubber, synthetic rubber, coatings, plastics, composite new calcium plastics, cables, paper, toothpaste, cosmetics, glass, medicine, paint, ink, cables, electrical insulation, food, textiles, feed, adhesives, sealants, asphalt, building materials, roofing felt construction supplies, fireproof ceilings, and daily chemical products. It not only reduces production costs across various industries but also enhances the function and performance of related products by increasing their volume. It is one of the most widely used inorganic filler masterbatches. Adding ultra-fine heavy calcium powder to cable sheathing can increase insulation strength by 5–10 times. If ultra-fine calcium carbonate powder above 10,000 mesh is used in automotive undercoat paint, it can provide the car chassis with erosion resistance stronger than that of steel plates. It finds extremely broad applications in petroleum catalytic cracking, molecular sieves, detergents, purifying agents, product modification, metal smelting, chemical synthesis, aerospace, high-temperature superconductivity, mechanical manufacturing, and especially in high-tech fields. Ultra-fine heavy calcium powder serves as a foundational material in these industrial sectors, leading to particularly high demand. As a result, heavy calcium fine powder has become an upstream and raw material for most industrial manufacturing, covering almost all production and manufacturing departments of light and heavy industries.
In the five major application areas of paper, plastics, rubber, cables, paint, and coatings, a significant portion still uses light calcium carbonate powder. Light calcium powder is widely used as a filler and reinforcing agent in rubber, plastics, PVC pipes, profiles, coatings, paper, paint, sealants, daily necessities, medicine, and feed. It not only increases volume and reduces costs but, more importantly, improves the processing performance of the matrix. It also provides reinforcement, tensile resistance, wear resistance, tear resistance, and enhances gloss. Therefore, calcium carbonate is not just an ordinary filler but is regarded as a functional filler. Light calcium carbonate offers high whiteness and good flowability, making it the largest filler for PVC pipes and profiles. It significantly enhances product volume, dimensional stability, heat resistance, smoothness, and gloss, thereby reducing costs and improving product quality. However, due to the complex production process of light calcium powder, its higher price, and the environmental pollution caused during production, the current commercial trend is to replace light calcium powder with heavy calcium powder as much as possible.
