How to deal with damage during the installation of polycarbonate sheets?
The raw material of polycarbonate sheets is plastic. If not handled carefully during construction and installation, the surface of the sheets may be damaged. Discarding damaged polycarbonate sheets would be wasteful and regrettable. So, is there any way to repair them? This is a common concern among consumers. Below, Yongxin will introduce a solution.
To repair damaged polycarbonate sheets, a specific repair liquid is used. This liquid is transparent, colorless, and pH-neutral. It is harmless but has a slightly pungent odor. It is highly effective for scratches and damage on polycarbonate sheets. For sheets that need repair, first, remove dust and wipe them clean to expose the fresh surface. Second, apply the liquid to the surface of the sheet using a sponge. Typically, within 1-5 minutes, the sheet will look as good as new. For damaged polycarbonate sheets, the surface will harden after a few minutes, restoring the original hardness and smoothness.

Polycarbonate Sheet Product Characteristics:
(1) Light Transmittance: PC sheets can achieve up to 89% light transmittance, comparable to glass. UV-coated sheets resist yellowing, fogging, and reduced transparency under sunlight. After ten years, light transmittance loss is about 10%, while PVC loses 15-20%, and fiberglass loses 12-20%.
(2) Impact Resistance: The impact strength is 250-300 times that of ordinary glass, 30 times that of acrylic sheets of the same thickness, and 2-20 times that of tempered glass. It is known as "unbreakable glass" and "sound steel."
(3) UV Protection: One side of the PC sheet is co-extruded with a UV-resistant coating, and the other side has anti-condensation treatment. It combines UV resistance, thermal insulation, and anti-fogging functions. It blocks ultraviolet rays, making it ideal for protecting valuable artworks and exhibits from UV damage.
(4) Lightweight: The density is about half that of glass, reducing costs for transportation, handling, installation, and support structures.
(5) Flame Retardancy: According to the GB50222—95 standard, PC sheets are classified as flame-retardant (B1 grade). The self-ignition point of PC sheets is about 580°C, and they self-extinguish after removal from fire. They do not produce toxic gases when burning and do not contribute to the spread of flames.
(6) Bendability: Can be cold-bent on-site according to design drawings to form arches, semi-circular roofs, and windows. The minimum bending radius is about 175 times the sheet thickness. Hot bending is also possible.
(7) Sound Insulation: PC sheets provide significant sound insulation, outperforming glass and acrylic sheets of the same thickness. Under the same thickness conditions, PC sheets improve sound insulation by 5-9 dB compared to glass. They are the preferred material for highway sound barriers.
(8) Energy Efficiency: PC sheets keep interiors cool in summer and warm in winter. They have a lower thermal conductivity (K-value) than ordinary glass and other plastics, with thermal insulation efficiency 7-25% higher than glass and up to 49% for PC sheets. This significantly reduces heat loss, making them suitable for buildings with heating systems.
(9) Temperature Adaptability: PC sheets do not become brittle at -40°C and do not deform at 125°C. Their mechanical and physical properties remain stable under harsh environmental conditions.
(10) Weather Resistance: PC sheets maintain stable physical properties within a temperature range of -40°C to 120°C. After 4000 hours of artificial weathering tests, yellowing is rated at 2, and light transmittance reduction is about 0.6%.
(11) Anti-Condensation: At an outdoor temperature of 0°C and an indoor temperature of 23°C with relative humidity below 80%, the inner surface of the material does not condense. Condensation flows along the surface without dripping.
