Specific Process for Recessed Installation of Polycarbonate Panels
Although they are all polycarbonate panels, they can be installed in different ways, and recessed installation is just one of them. Different installation methods involve different operational techniques. So, how is the recessed installation of polycarbonate panels carried out? First, it is necessary to determine the embedment depth, which should account for factors such as panel thickness, thermal expansion and contraction conditions, supporting structures, wind pressure, snow load, etc., to reserve sufficient embedment depth. Generally, the principle is that the panel edge should extend into the fixed structure by at least 25mm, with at least two rib structures installed into the fixed area.
The second step in the specific process of recessed installation of polycarbonate panels is to master the size of the预留 gap. Under different climatic conditions and varying installation temperatures, the预留 gap for thermal expansion between panels differs. Generally, when installing in summer, the预留 gap can be appropriately reduced, while in winter, a larger space should be预留. Additionally, the length of the panels is important. Since recessed installation is used, the length of the polycarbonate panels should not be too long, otherwise, it will increase the cumulative thermal expansion length.

Sunlight Panel Product Characteristics:
(1) Light Transmittance: PC sunlight panels can achieve up to about 89% light transmittance, comparable to glass. UV-coated panels are less prone to yellowing, fogging, or poor light transmission when exposed to sunlight. After ten years, the light transmittance loss is about 10%, while PVC loss rates reach 15-20%, and fiberglass about 12-20%.
(2) Impact Resistance: The impact strength is about 250-300 times that of ordinary glass, 30 times that of acrylic sheets of the same thickness, and 2-20 times that of tempered glass. It is renowned as "unbreakable glass" and "sounding steel."
(3) UV Protection: One side of the PC panel is co-extruded with an anti-UV coating, and the other side has anti-condensation treatment, integrating UV resistance, thermal insulation, and anti-fogging functions. It blocks ultraviolet rays from passing through, making it suitable for protecting valuable artworks and exhibits from UV damage.
(4) Light Weight: The specific gravity is about half that of glass, saving costs in transportation, handling, installation, and supporting frameworks.
(5) Flame Retardancy: According to standard GB50222-95, PC sunlight panels are classified as flame-retardant, i.e., B1 grade. The self-ignition point of PC panels is about 580°C, and they self-extinguish after being removed from fire. They do not produce toxic gases when burning and do not contribute to the spread of flames.
(6) Bendability: They can be cold-bent on-site according to design drawings to form arches, semi-circular roofs, and windows. The bending radius is about 175 times the panel thickness, and they can also be heat-bent.
(7) Sound Insulation: PC sunlight panels have significant sound insulation effects, offering better acoustic insulation than glass and acrylic sheets of the same thickness. Under the same thickness conditions, the sound insulation of PC sunlight panels is about 5-9 DB higher than that of glass. They are the material of choice for sound barriers on highways.
(8) Energy Efficiency: Cool in summer and warm in winter, PC sunlight panels have a lower thermal conductivity (K-value) than ordinary glass and other plastics. The thermal insulation effect is about 7-25% higher than that of equivalent glass, with PC sunlight panels achieving up to about 49% thermal insulation. This greatly reduces heat loss, making them suitable for buildings with heating equipment.
(9) Temperature Adaptability: PC panels do not become brittle at -40°C and do not deform at 125°C. Their mechanical and physical properties remain largely unchanged even in harsh environments.
(10) Weather Resistance: PC sunlight panels can maintain the stability of various physical indicators within a range of -40°C to 120°C. After 4000 hours of artificial weathering tests, the yellowing degree is 2, and the light transmittance reduction is about 0.6%.
(11) Anti-Condensation: When the outdoor temperature is 0°C and the indoor temperature is 23°C, with indoor relative humidity below about 80%, the inner surface of the material does not condense. Condensation will flow along the surface of the panel and will not drip.
