Electrically operated ventilation skylights are based on natural open ventilation skylights with the addition of an electric system and opening/closing flaps. When ventilation, air exchange, smoke exhaust, and dust removal are needed, the electrically operated flaps are opened. When ventilation and smoke exhaust are not required, the electric flaps remain closed to prevent air convection between indoors and outdoors.
Ventilation skylights come in three types: ceiling-mounted, window-type, and wall-mounted, based on materials, atmosphere, metal materials, and plastic materials. Regardless of the type of ventilator, proper use is essential to achieve exhaust and ventilation functions. Correct maintenance methods can effectively preserve the ventilator and extend its service life. Below are the correct usage and maintenance guidelines for ventilation skylights.
Smoke exhaust skylights are categorized into three types based on their external shape: linear, triangular, and arched. Arched side-opening smoke exhaust skylights can remain open during rainy and windy weather, while linear and triangular smoke exhaust skylights must be closed promptly in such conditions due to their structural design.
Traditional architectural structures such as daylighting roofs and glass rooms often include openable skylights (commonly known as "dormer windows"), which provide functions like sunshading, heat insulation, and sound insulation. However, their drawbacks include: ineffective noise isolation, inability to regulate indoor air humidity, and lack of control over the amount and direction of sunlight entering the room.
Ventilation and daylighting skylights are high in strength and lightweight. The density of hot-dip galvanized steel pipes is approximately 2.70, compared to the density of steel at 7.85. This reduces the load capacity requirements for indoor workshop floors, makes foundation optimization relatively easier, significantly saves on structural steel usage, conserves material resources, avoids unnecessary waste, and reduces cost consumption.
