Yellow powder, soluble in water to give a lemon yellow color, soluble in fibers, difficult to dissolve in ethanol. Appears orange in benzene or carbon tetrachloride. Insoluble in other organic solvents.
Mainly used for dyeing cotton, linen, viscose, or fiber fabrics, and can also be used for dyeing silk, wool, nylon, and their blended fabrics. Other applications include dyeing leather and paper pulp.
