Requirements for the Sample to be Tested
(1) The sample to be tested should have a matrix (i.e., basic composition), fineness, and moisture content that are essentially consistent with the calibration sample. When the type and amount of admixture vary significantly, it may affect the matrix composition. Therefore, samples of different types and grades should use the corresponding calibration sample's working curve for content measurement.
The fineness of the sample to be tested only needs to meet national standards. When the particle size is less than 0.08mm, the instrument's measurement results are independent of particle size. As long as the sample meets this fineness requirement, the impact of fineness on the measurement results can be disregarded. However, other samples generally cannot achieve this fineness. During measurement, the instrument readings will be lower. Users must crush the sample and press it into a pellet for analysis to obtain accurate results. The moisture content of the sample should be less than 0.5%, which is generally achievable in cement plants. However, if samples like clinker are stored for too long, they may absorb moisture, affecting the measurement results. Therefore, the moisture content of the sample should also be consistent with the calibration sample.
(2) Since the pelletized sample has sufficient mechanical strength, with a thickness of about 4mm, and photons only excite atoms on the shallow surface of the measurement area, the measurement results are independent of the sample's thickness (i.e., weight) under uniform material distribution. They are only slightly related to density (ensured by pelletizing pressure), but the impact is minimal.
