Product Characteristics
Niobium is a gray-white metal with a melting point of 2468°C, a boiling point of 4742°C, and a density. At room temperature, niobium is stable in air and is not completely oxidized when red-hot in oxygen. At high temperatures, it directly combines with sulfur, nitrogen, and carbon, and can form alloys with titanium, zirconium, hafnium, and tungsten. It does not react with inorganic acids or alkalis, nor does it dissolve in aqua regia, but it is soluble in hydrofluoric acid.
Potential Application Areas:
1. Superconducting Applications: Niobium is one of the elements with the highest critical temperature for superconductivity. Alloys made from niobium have critical temperatures as high as 18.50K to 210K, making them the most important superconducting materials currently available;
2. High-Temperature Alloys: A large portion of the world's niobium is used in the production of nickel, chromium, and iron-based high-temperature alloys, either in pure form or as high-purity ferroniobium and niobium-nickel alloys. These alloys are used in jet engines, gas turbine engines, turbochargers, and heat-resistant combustion equipment;
3. Steel Applications: Among the various microalloying elements for steel, niobium is the most effective. Its impact is so significant that even a small amount of niobium atoms in iron atoms can improve the properties of steel. In fact, adding 0.001% to 0.1% niobium to steel is sufficient to alter its mechanical properties;
4. Coinage: In coinage, niobium is sometimes used alongside gold and silver as a precious metal;
5. Other Applications: Niobium (or niobium doped with 1% zirconium) is used as a sealing material for high-pressure sodium lamp arc tubes because its thermal expansion coefficient is very similar to that of sintered alumina arc lamp ceramic materials.
Packaging and Storage
This product is packaged in vacuum-sealed multi-layer bags by default, with additional paper drums or cartons. Upon receipt, it should be stored sealed in a dry, cool environment. Prolonged exposure to air should be avoided to prevent moisture-induced agglomeration, which may affect dispersion performance and usage effectiveness.
