Potential Application Fields:
Mainly used as an additive for yttrium iron garnet and as a control material in nuclear reactors. Also used in the production of special luminescent glass and infrared-absorbing glass, as well as a glass colorant. It is obtained by reacting erbium nitrate or erbium sulfate solution with alkali, followed by separation and calcination. There is only one stable compound, Er2O3. It is a powder with both body-centered cubic and monoclinic structures. Er2O3 also has a large magnetic moment of 9.5 M.B. Other properties and preparation methods are similar to those of lanthanide elements. Used in the production of pink glass.
