Fiber ball filter media are spherical filter materials made by bundling fibers. Compared to traditional rigid filter media, they offer advantages such as excellent elasticity, no floating on the water surface, large void spaces, long operational cycles, and minimal head loss. During the filtration process, the void spaces in the filter layer gradually decrease along the direction of water flow, aligning well with the ideal porosity distribution of larger voids at the top and smaller ones at the bottom. This results in benefits such as high filtration speed, large dirt-holding capacity, effective filtration, regenerability for repeated use, no need for complete replacement, and time and labor savings. Fiber ball filter media can capture fine suspended particles that are difficult to remove through sedimentation. The filtration speed is 3.5 times higher than that of traditional sand filter media. The media can be backwashed and regenerated, enabling automated management. Typical filtration speeds are 30 m/h, with influent turbidity for coarse filtration at 100 mg/L and effluent suspended solids (SS) ≤5 mg/L; for fine filtration, influent turbidity is 20 mg/L and effluent SS ≤2 mg/L. They are widely used in high-standard water applications in industries such as oil fields, chemicals, power, and metallurgy, as well as in circulation, side filtration, and wastewater recycling. (I) Performance and Characteristics: This product is made from highly formalized vinylon and shaped polyester fibers as raw materials. It utilizes a large amount of biological mass attached to its surface, which repeatedly contacts oxygenated wastewater, degrading suspended solids and organic matter to achieve treatment purposes. Its features include: 1. Lightweight, high strength, stable physical and chemical properties, and durability. 2. The floating fibers allow variable void spaces between the media, reducing the risk of biofilm clogging. 3. Large specific surface area, high activity, and effective treatment performance. (II) Performance indicators are analyzed as follows: | Analysis Item | Test Data | Analysis Item | Test Data | |-----------------------|-------------------|-----------------------|-------------------| | Density | 1.38 g/cm³ | Packing Density | 70–85 kg/m³ | | Filtration Speed | 20–85 m/h | Specific Surface Area | 3000 m²/m³ | | Dirt-Holding Capacity | 6–10 kg/m³ | Void Ratio | 96% | | Ball Diameter | 25±2 mm, 30±2 mm | Ball Appearance | White, spherical or elliptical |
