Titanium carbide nanoparticles are prepared by aerosol ablation method, featuring high purity, narrow particle size distribution, high specific surface area, high surface activity, high-temperature resistance, and oxidation resistance. It is an excellent refractory and wear-resistant material, **applied in cemented carbides and wear-resistant superhard materials. Titanium carbide has a melting point of approximately 3200°C and is an important component of cemented carbides, characterized by high hardness, corrosion resistance, and excellent thermal stability. It is used in the manufacturing of wear-resistant materials, cutting tools, molds, metal melting crucibles, and many other fields. Due to its small particle size, it exhibits high surface activity, excellent electrical conductivity, and chemical inertness to iron-based metals. Adding 0.01% of titanium carbide nanoparticles can reduce the sintering temperature of titanium carbide ceramics by about 200 degrees, refine ceramic grains, and improve ceramic sintering performance. Titanium carbide nanoparticles can serve as a reinforcing phase for ceramic materials, effectively enhancing the mechanical and electrical properties of metal and ceramic matrix materials.

Product Applications

1. Titanium carbide nanoparticles are used in aerospace components: Considering that refractory nanocarbides TiC and ZrC have melting points above 3000°C, excellent high-temperature strength, good compatibility with tungsten, similar thermal expansion coefficients, and much lower density than tungsten. The strength of nano TiCp/w and ZrCp/w composites gradually increases with rising temperature. Nano TiCp/w and ZrCp/w exhibit high strength at 1000°C and 800°C, respectively, showing an increase compared to their room temperature strength. As the temperature continues to rise, the strength decreases. This unique high-temperature strength of the composites is due to the transformation of the W matrix from brittle to plastic with increasing temperature, making the reinforcing effect of nano TiC and ZrC particles on the plastic W matrix more significant at high temperatures, resulting in excellent high-temperature strength. Nano TiC particles provide better high-temperature reinforcement to the W matrix than nano ZrC particles.

2. Titanium carbide nanoparticle foam ceramics: Foam ceramics, as filters, can effectively remove inclusions from various fluids through agitation and adsorption mechanisms. Filters require materials with chemical stability, especially in the metallurgical industry, where high melting points are essential. Therefore, oxide materials are predominantly used, and to adapt to the filtration of metal melts, the focus is on improving thermal shock resistance. Titanium carbide nanoparticle foam ceramics offer higher strength, hardness, thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity, heat resistance, and corrosion resistance compared to oxide foam ceramics.

3. **Applied in the manufacturing of wear-resistant materials, cutting tools, molds, metal melting crucibles, and many other fields. Transparent titanium carbide ceramics are also excellent optical materials. In the abrasive and grinding tool industry, titanium carbide abrasives are ideal substitutes for traditional grinding materials such as aluminum oxide, silicon carbide, boron carbide, and chromium oxide. The grinding capability of titanium carbide nanoparticles is comparable to synthetic diamond, significantly reducing costs. They are currently widely used in the United States, Japan, Russia, and other countries. Abrasives, grinding wheels, and grinding pastes made from titanium carbide nanoparticle materials can greatly improve grinding efficiency, precision, and surface finish.

4. Powder metallurgy field: Titanium carbide nanoparticle powder is used as a raw material in powder metallurgy for producing ceramics and cemented carbide parts, such as wire drawing dies and cemented carbide molds.
